Shadow Mountain was established in 1971 as Dillon Family and Youth Services. In 1980, our current hospital location was opened in southeast Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 61st and Sheridan.

In 2006, Shadow Mountain opened the Riverside campus. This highly specialized residential treatment environment treats some of our community’s most fragile children and adolescents: those with attachment disorders stemming from severe abuse and neglect, those with autism and those with both developmental delays and mental health challenges. Shadow Mountain is a behavioral health system that is recognized regionally and nationally for the clinical expertise in these treatment programs.
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System’s comprehensive continuum brings quality behavioral health care services to children, adolescent and adults, ages 4 and older in Oklahoma and the southern region of the United States. Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shadow Mountain is a behavioral health hospital that has been helping at-risk youth with emotional issues and behavioral problems for over 30 years. A hospital expansion in 2013 allowed Shadow Mountain to being treating adults ages 18 plus.
The goal of Shadow Mountain is to provide services that will enable the patient to return to a healthy, productive role within his or her family, school, work and community as quickly as possible. We utilize the least restrictive level of care while collaborating with community resources and support systems.
Today, Shadow Mountain treats more than 2,000 patients annually. Our staff of over 200 mental health specialists uses evidence-based interventions and counseling to help children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with a variety of conditions, traumas, and emotional and behavioral disorders.
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System is responsive to the changing needs of our community. This commitment has brought to Oklahoma highly specialized residential care units, which are widely recognized for their specializations in reactive attachment disorder, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders and self-harming behavior.
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System strives to provide a comprehensive range of mental health treatment services to patients and their families, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, consultation, treatment, rehabilitation and education. Various treatment modalities are used to give individuals a foundation upon which to build healthy, productive lives.
